Help with Music Library

For Music Library on Mac, iPhone and Apple Watch (on the App Store as Dave's Music Library).

Getting started on iPhone

  1. Install Music Library for Mac (free) and import your music there.
  2. On the iPhone, open the Sync tab and tap Pair with a Mac. On the Mac, choose iPhone in the sidebar, pick the iPhone and enter the code it shows. Both need to be on the same Wi-Fi network.
  3. Choose what to send to the iPhone (albums, artists, playlists) on the Mac, or tap Download on the iPhone. Your whole library can be browsed on the iPhone either way.

No Mac yet? Tap Explore a Sample Library on the Library tab to try the app with fictional artists and albums. Your own library replaces it after your first sync, and nothing you do in it is kept.

Common questions

The iPhone doesn't find my Mac

Keep the iPhone's Sync tab open, make sure both are on the same Wi-Fi network, and allow Music Library to use the local network when iOS asks (Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Local Network). On the Mac, allow incoming connections if macOS asks.

A sync says there isn't enough space

The iPhone checks before it changes anything. Choose fewer albums on the Mac, or free up space, and sync again.

Scrobbling to Last.fm

Connect Last.fm in the iPhone's Settings (gear on the Library tab) with your own Last.fm API key, or connect it on the Mac and the iPhone picks up the account at the next sync.
